We are a Roleplay server, and because of that, we have rules that differ from the normal RPG or SMP server. We expect everyone to follow the rules. We all want to enjoy ourselves here, so behave correctly and kindly.
The rules can also be viewed in our Community Handbook.
ElderAkavir Minecraft Roleplay Rules
Last Updated: 17th of April 2018
These rules cover all out-of-character activity on the Minecraft server, forums, and community Discord server. Length and severity of punishments is decided case by case by the administration.
Respect Everyone. Harassment, bullying, racism, homophobia etc. and general unpleasantness will not be tolerated on the server. Retaliatory harassment isn’t allowed either. Seek staff intervention if issues arise.
English Only. The primary users of the server are english-only speakers. Please respect that by keeping all non-english off of open chat channels.
Don’t spam and pester the players and staff. Requesting OP or higher permissions is always an offense. Asking for staff to check your application, unless it’s been unreviewed for 24 hours, is against the rules. Spamming nonsense into any chat channel is against the rules.
No unfair third party plugins. Hacking, Cheating, exploiting bugs in the minecraft client or plugins, and use of mob grinders are not allowed on the server. Logging in with the use of Minechat is not allowed. Any sort of software that copies our world is not allowed.
Respect the authority of staff members. While we generally tend to integrate ourselves within the community quite closely, players still have to respect our authority in a situation that requires staff. Staff have final say.
No Out of Character PvP. Running around the world and killing random players is extremely disruptive. For in-character fighting, please refer to the In-Character rules section.
No Out of Character Griefing or Theft. While anyone can freely build in the world; however, destroying or stealing buildings or items in an out-of-character scenario is strictly prohibited. See the In-Character rule about griefing for more information.
No inflammatory discussion. Topics, such as religion and politics, can get inflammatory very quickly. Please avoid using the server and forums as a place to talk about these topics.
No Advertisement. Please don’t advertise on the server for other servers, products, or anything unrelated to our server.
G. No Illegal Content. Illegal content can be described as warez, copyright infringement, and plagiarism, as well as child pornography. We attempt to respect all private and public works and therefore do not allow any distribution of illegal content both directly or indirectly (posting links that lead to outside sources where any illegal content can be accessed).
Staff have final say. Staff reserves the right to ban anyone they see as being a toxic player or negative influence on the server. Use common sense, just because something isn't in the rules doesn't mean you should do it.
These rules cover all in-character activity on the Minecraft server, forums, and community Discord server. Length and severity of punishments is decided case by case by the administration.
No Metagaming. Metagaming (MG) is when a character acts on information they couldn’t have known in character. The ‘all-knowing’ behaviors that come out of metagaming are not conducive to good roleplay.
Example: The guards are coming for your character, but he/she has no clue it’s going to happen. Your character sets up bear traps and destruction runes ‘on their gut feeling.’
No Powergaming. Powergaming (PG) is when a person performs an action on someone that they have no say in or no way out of.
Example: The guards have arrived at your character’s doorstep. He/she manages to disarm and combat a handful of armored guardsmen without any help or advanced combat experience.
No Erotic Roleplay. Erotic roleplay (ERP) is prohibited. Explicit descriptions of sexual intercourse are not allowed on the server or forums. Casual mention of sex between the characters as a plot device is allowed; however, it must never be explicit.
A Matching Skin is Required. A player is expected to use a minecraft skin that attempts to match the description of their character. It doesn’t need to be perfect, and many of the members here are willing to help you find the proper template.
Don’t Abandon Roleplay. There may be times where players would like to stop roleplaying in a particular session. The server requests that players finish the session so everyone involved has closure. If you must go do to real-life obligations, that is fine. The goal of this rule is to prevent people from aborting roleplay just because it doesn’t suit their interests.
Thievery Roleplay. Thievery: In order to steal/rob someone, you must speak to that person or a staff member OOC (Out of Character). Your attempt will be DM'd by a staff member, or, if you're comfortable with it, the owner. NOTE: If the person you are stealing from uses this information to metagame, speak to staff immediately.
How to Roleplay combat. For combat, there is several ways to do it, but the most important thing is that all parties agree on what the rules of the combat will be. With the /me plugin you can emote what you do, thereby roleplaying what you do in combat in order to get to a conclusion. For fights that are more than just two players, the whole party needs to decide how the fight is handled. Generally for events, a rolling system (like DnD) is highly recommended using our /roll plugin. To reduce chaos, a turn order should also be established.
Roleplay Policy While not strictly rules, our server requests all members follow abide by these policies while roleplaying. Repeatedly disregarding these policies will considered disrespecting the staff and server, and will result in a having one’s privileges revoked.
Multiple Characters are Limited. The use of alternative characters for events is open to anyone with staff approval and proper application. The use of secondary characters and multiple characters to be used in place of the original or current primary character is limited to trusted members, with applications being reviewed by staff.
More Player Models Mod is encouraged, but can’t be required for any event. In order to be inclusive to more players, the staff will never require the More Player Model Mod to participate in an event.
Killing another character. In the case you want to kill another player's character, you must get their permission out of character ahead of time. Players reserve their rights to control their characters, and what happens to them.
Criminal and monster/supernatural creature characters. Monster characters (Lycanthropes/Vampires/Lich/etc..) are reserved exclusively to members who have achieved the trusted rank. Upon having provided an application that is sufficient to the higher standards, the player may roleplay said character given it's accepted. Monster characters also forfeit their choice to remain alive should they be killed, given as they're already harder to kill. Applications should be sent to a staff member.
When writing your application, in the "Have you read the rules on the site, and do you have any questions or concerns?" Write "Watch the Skies, Traveller" so we know that you have read the rules in their entirety.
